No Blu-ray for you, says Microsoft (again)

Chuqui (again, I know) on the status of Blu-Ray in the marketplace:

“Blu-ray isn’t the next generation, it’s going to be the generation that never really was. it’s going to go down as the next APS film format”

I’m linking to this because that one excerpt sums up the entire Blu-Ray industry better than anything else. The APS film format analogy is more than apt, it is spot on. Blu-Ray is superior to DVD, yes, but with the existing and prolific DVD catalog already in existence, the onslaught of new delivery devices (iTunes, Netflix, IP TV, etc.) and the slumping economy we may just have the perfect storm to kill Blu-Ray here in the U.S.
